Scholars wishing to consult the archives during this period should consult with Catherine Goldenstein (comed.pr@club-internet.fr) as to what is available.

Introduction

The Ricoeur Archives form a major part of the Ricoeur Collection.. These unique documents shed light on the work of a thinker who  reflected profoundly on the issues of his time. The archives promise to be an invaluable resource for scholars.

Paul Ricoeur beleived the texts he decided to publish delimited and constituted his oeuvre. Yet, the archives owe their existence to Ricoeur himself. Not a man to dwell in the past, he renewed dialogues on the most important philosophical,

political, social and religious questions until his last days. However, he also stored all his working papers and documents from the beginning of his studies in 1930, to his last lecture in November, 2004.

By bequeathing his archives, he has enabled all those who are interested to discover a myriad of documents. These documents, along with many others, are currently being organized. This website will endeavour to post a large selection of them.

Catherine Goldenstein, a close friend of the philosopher, has undertaken the complete inventory of these archives.
